My time in San Francisco has come to an end.
I had some good meetings with cool companies and people that I’m certain will amount to something good and it feels assuring that we (as in Rebtel) are starting to build a solid marketing foundation here in the US. Overall though, I’m most satisfied with the Web 2.0 Expo and that I got to go there. I experience a slight case of cognitive information overload from all the different seminars and sessions you could attend but unfortunately you can’t be at more than one place at a time.
One really interesting session from the Expo I haven’t mentioned in any previous posts was this one with Tariq Krim, CEO and founder of Netvibes. It was a panel discussion on all things Widgets. Some of the topics discussed where different metrics and whether or not it’s possible to outline a concept for a successful Widget. They also discussed how the people in the world of Widgets could work towards creating a somewhat standardized ad model and implementing it.
It’s really cool to see how fast new ground is broken in the field of something like Widgets. With all things considered, it still is a relatively abstract and fresh occurrence in the shape and form its used today. Proof of that is that just at the same conference last year, the discussions revolved around what Widgets are, what they mean, and how they can be useful.
Anywho, I’m touching down in NY and JFK at about 6 and I will be staying at the Roosevelt. If you’re in the neighborhood stop by and say hi.
