From now on, I’m officially a Plurker

So I got this invite on Facebook the other day from a man I respect very much (especially when it comes to his judgment on all things Social Media). The invite was to a new micro-blogging a´la Twitter service called Plurk.

I haven’t used it long enough go write a comprehensive review but I can tell you that it’s kind of like good old Twitter except for that the status timeline stretches horizontally (as opposed to vertically in the case of Twitter), and you can reply to every update in a drop-down box that group all replies (which by the way is pretty nice way of getting a good overview).

I have decided to give Plurk a go but it really is beyond me why they haven’t integrated a Twitter update function. I’m one of the unfortunate people that are yet to receive a Ping.fm invite and I would rather not update Twitterific and then log on to Plurk to do the same update there. If you can take a hint (wink wink), I would love an invite to Ping.fm.

Edit: I got one from Thomas McMahon. Thanks!

They also, naturally, have a mobile web for the service. On the iPhone it looks like this
