Sunday Delight - 5 Must-Have OSX Apps

In times where lists of Twitter Tools, RSS Readers and Adobe AIR Apps are a dime a dozen, it’s now time to shed some light on a list solely dedicated to nifty applications for OSX. Some of these might be familiar to some but I’m pretty sure they’ll be pleasant surprises for a vast majority. After all, when all the feed reading, Twittering, project planning and what not is over and done with, you might want to have some “you-time”. Getting burned out was just a fad.

Off we go.

I did mention that this wasn’t going to be a list of RSS Readers but I couldn’t resist the urge of including this one. If you’re the type of person that’s keen on adopting new technology but still feel reluctant towards entering “unknown tech territory”, Times might be for you. This is an RSS Reader out of the ordinary that delivers a very esthetically pleasing news reading experience. Even if you swear by Google Reader you should definitely check this one out.

When writing this I’m doing it to offend the least amount of people, but in my opinion, the single greatest product (read: the only great product) to ever come out of Redmond is the Xbox 360. If you, just like me, are coming off a good few years with a modded “original Xbox” that allowed you to SSH onto its hard drive, the 360 might be not to shine as bright in comparison when it comes to handling your “iLife”. This especially applies to you if you’re on OSX. This problem is easily solved by Connect360. Instead of uploading your Gossip Girls, your Seinfelds or your Prison Breaks onto your hard drive you can seamlessly stream all your content to your 360 over wifi. Well worth those 20-somthing bucks they charge you.

This one is called Transmission and it’s simply the best and most lightweight Torrent client available for OSX today. If you’re looking for a reliable companion that can help you get you those TV-episodes or Podcasts, Transmission is your man.

If you, like most people, use Gmail Mailplane might be of interest. In brings the power of Gmail to your desktop. Surprisingly enough, not a lot of people I run into know about this App that I probably use the most only second to Firefox.

If you’re an avid fan of TV Shows and use Bittorrent to obtain them but often times find yourself spending your valuable time on finding Torrent Trackers that not only offer your show but also have a decent seeders versus leechers ratio, Ted is your friend. Throw all of that stuff out the window and let Ted add your favorite shows and automatically search for the newest episode and download it for you. That way you can do other stuff and watch what you want, when you want. Free, easy and on demand.
