Apple Blunder

What can I say? So cheesy it makes your stomach turn inside out.

Apple, come on? Who came up with this “brilliant” idea?  Isn’t creating a good buzz (which already hugely succeeded) and exploring more forward thinking promotional channels a better way of reaching the masses and truly make them yearn for an iPhone than going completely mainstream? I think so, at least in the long run for the brand that we know and cherish.

A big part of the Apple charm (and the biggest reasons for my dedicated personal admiration) is that they are witty, different, innovative, and creative in everything they do in general (marketing in particular). Obviously this is not the case anymore.

My partner in crime over at Rebtel, David Thulin, is just as big of an Apple fanboy as myself. Maybe even bigger? It feels very good to have somebody around the office (at least two days a week) that for one is very good at what he does, and two, gets new Apple stuff seconds after Steve Jobs announces them. That’s my kind of guy.On the picture above you can view his latest acquisition, the Macbook Air. He’s very happy with it.I don’t blame him.

Tried out this really cool app today called MozoDojo. It’s basically a photo-mosaic generator that allows you to make up a bigger picture using a number of smaller images. You can use iPhoto, iTunes, Delicious Library or any custom folder you wish as bank for the smaller mosaics.  Not sure what to get your best mate for their birthday that’s coming up? Well, now you know. Get them a mosaic-style high resolution poster of yourself made up of images of your friend. A gift like that can’t go wrong. Above is an example made by yours truly that sould get you started. Obvisouly I should have used more images with more diverse colors and a higher number of subdivisions to make up for detail. If you want more inspiration, check out this one of Steve Jobs made up of different Apple products.

IT’S HERE, IT’S BLACK (AND WHITE) AND I WANT IT NOW!
Entry model going for $199 (only black), it’s suppose to be a globally fixed price as well, which is good but I’m not quite sure what it means. Also, with a price of a measly $199 mixed together with the tremendous iPhone buzz we’ve experienced during the last year, the iPhone 3G is bound to reach a state of ubiquity. The other model, 16GB of storage goes for $299. Needless to say which one I will be getting. $100 extra for twice the storage in a bad boy like this is one easy decission.
Starting July 11th (bummer, long wait), it will be available in the countries below.
Australia, Austria, Belgium (French), Belgium (Dutch), Canada (English), Canada (French), Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (French), Switzerland (German), UK, USA.
Only “disappointment” is that the camera is 2 megapixles. I actually think the camera on the iPhone 2G suits my purposes (Flickr, blogging and e-mailing to pics to friends) and words well in decent lighting conditions so it’s definitely not a dealbreaker for me.
Naturally, Stevie J also introduced the new iPhone 3G ad. Someone had enough foresight to film it during the presentation. See the above post.
All hail iPhone 3G!
