Apple Blunder

What can I say? So cheesy it makes your stomach turn inside out.

Apple, come on? Who came up with this “brilliant” idea?  Isn’t creating a good buzz (which already hugely succeeded) and exploring more forward thinking promotional channels a better way of reaching the masses and truly make them yearn for an iPhone than going completely mainstream? I think so, at least in the long run for the brand that we know and cherish.

A big part of the Apple charm (and the biggest reasons for my dedicated personal admiration) is that they are witty, different, innovative, and creative in everything they do in general (marketing in particular). Obviously this is not the case anymore.

Regular Saturday morning ouside the Apple Store in San FranciscoEdit: The size of this group of people literally doubled 5 minutes after I took the picture. I would say about 80% were there to get an iPhone but unfortunately for them, the store was out of stock. Judging by history and how things tend to go down, when an Apple Store is out of stock, they are making room for something new..

iPhone Webclip

I have a mean cold and been awake since 4 this morning doing pretty much nothing. Only good thing to come out of waking up that early and not being able to go back to sleep is that a really interesting business idea popped into my head. What was good about it is that it had a clear cut business model for monetization. I might elaborate on that topic later.

Anywho.

If you use the Rebtel Mobile Web to manage your contacts and use an iPhone on top of that, you have probably wanted a a nice little neat Favicon for it to put on your Home Screen.

Now you can, just log on to http://clipalizer.com/?a=k592 on your iPhone and follow the instructions. You can also use the Clipalizer.com site to add custom Favicons to any other site of choice.

Rebtel Wikipedia entry on iWik. Looks magnificant. If you’re still looking for a great native Wikipedia App for the iPhone I can vouch for iWik. It’s a bit slow at times but overall it beats the competition by a mile.
